Sketches and rough spreads
April 12, 2012
The current mood I am going for is Modern: This is mainly because of the style of my portfolio content. I started by googling modern, modern architecture, coffee shops, modern art, photography. The main thing is that modern deals with a pop of color.
Currently I have a grid of three columns going. This is mainly because of the size of my images in proportion with the 8.5 in size page. My largest issue is the amount of content I have and its not constant with the amount of text vrs. images I have from one spread to the next. I also created a constant page tab, which I did because I am use to doing that with my architecture plots.

Final poster and ticket
March 8, 2012
In previous Iterations, I had played around with a multitude of different techniques – such as scale, value, rotation, etc. The most important eye-catching aspect I wanted for the poster was for someone to notice the VH1 music company. That’s what will draw the audience into knowing that its a music concert and then they could farther explore with it. If that doesn’t catch their eye the “Best of the 90s” will. Because what else of the 90s is there other than music.
The H is kind of left with not color filler and only with a thin black outline. I realized that at first I may have wanted the VH1 to stand out, however an audience will know the “best of the 90s” so that is kind of contrasted to stand out. The H I utilized to be the divider/ information holder to the different available concerts. It centered and the artist is bolder.
The Ticket uses the same design over, the filler is inverse for the ticket. This was just a change because I wanted variance with the Ticket. because of the sale of the ticket it wouldn’t work horizontal nor vertical so I rotated and placed it off the page slightly.
Typographic Hierarchy (part 1)
February 22, 2012
- Creating three different sections: The Presenters, what is being presented, the location, and fee this drawing to eye to the films and the free admission
- Making a center of the films and time so the eye is drawn there
- Separation all the different information: The people, the idea, the events, the location, and seller point
- Just the names of the movie and date: That is read as a section on its own
- Indenting all the dates and movies so that so it is nearly centered on the whole page
- Indenting the film festive, time, and the location. So what is read first are the actual films and who is sponsoring this event
- What the reader wants to see : That its a film festival and its “free”
- The Films themselves are the sole emphasis
- Emphasizing what the event group is: The School and where , then the second hierarchy would be the films
